Comments from past ALICE Instructor Course attendees. We are humbled and extremely grateful for these comments. We thank the SBLE officers and school administrators across the country working hard to make schools safer for our kids:

Greg,

Hope this message finds you and yours preparing for a great Christmas and New Years. I know you have spoken with Renee Romine a few times, but I thought I would drop you a line or two. The ALICE training has been well received at Kent State University. I have taught over 200 staff, faculty and students the program in my classes and they are spreading the word about the program. People are hungry for this information and the buy-in is tremendous after the class. I have seen a few people from classes I taught at the beginning of the semester (I’m on midnights now) and they have told me that they still are talking about the class four months later. I can tell it is starting to take strong root at the University and Renee told me that we are getting tons of requests to teach the class at our main campus and regional campuses. Next semester the plan is to go to all of regional campuses and share the ALICE program with them.

I have had several people tell me that they now feel confident about what they should do if ever faced with an active shooter and are glad that we are being proactive in giving them the information. Of all the courses I’m trained to teach I have found the ALICE class to be THE most important, as I can reach the community and address their concerns in a way that I was unable to do under normal interactions. I have found that ALICE bridges the gap between how citizens normally perceive my role as a police officer and replaces it with a sense of community. Regardless of who is in my class and what role they fulfill in their normal day, they walk away with a sense of “being and responding together” as a group.

If I can ever be of assistance to you, please let me know. If you ever are having a “Hard Sell” to police or schools, feel free to have them contact me. I would be happy to talk to them and tell them what positives have come out of us adopting the program.

As a retired police Lt., former SWAT officer and K9 handler, I can't tell you the number of schools and seminars I've attended. Hands down, yours has been the best I've ever attended. My SRO's agree. Keep up the great work! Let me know if I can be a reference for your program. -Dave Ford, Director School Safety Programs, Huber Heights Schools, Ohio

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank YOU! The training was wonderful. Four days later I am still thinking about it.

I was slapping my head thinking, "Why have we not been doing this before now!"

Great philosophy, practical to apply. ALICE system makes sense and will work.

The "hands-on scenarios" is what truly made me a believer.

The course got the attendees out of the "cop mode".

It's just common sense.

Excellent course. This was the exact piece missing from my current presentations.

This type of training should be introduced to police academies and teacher colleges.

Fantastic training and very informative.

Very good class, and really meets a huge need in our schools.

I am a better and more prepared leader as a result of this training.

I believe you are onto a paradigm shift in training school personnel.

Nothing is fool-proof, but this is as good of an option that I have seen.

I came away with good teaching materials, a great training program.

Not only will I push this program on campus, but I will push it to local schools.

Better than a similar program that I saw by another program.

Unlike most training courses, this course kept my attention the entire time!

It really made me re-think what the policy is, and what I have told my own children.

It is amazing to be a part of something that will positively impact so many and save lives.

Thank you for bringing this to the schools of America.

I am not used to the brashness and aggressiveness of this class, but it was vital given the subject matter that it was presented in that manner. It was appropriate.

The drills and practical training gave me a feeling of empowerment instead of hopelessness.

Best 3-day training I've attended in last 31 years as LEO.

It's the only training I've gone to that I did not want to stop. Thanks guys for taking the time and making the sacrifice to help us better serve our school, communities, and country.
